Establishing Popular Committees in Salah Al-Din

Outcomes
- Three
raising awareness sessions were organized in Tikrit, Samarra and Al - Alam.
107 participants took part in these sessions. Participants were educated on
the importance of forming popular committees. Then, the names of volunteers
who were willing to be involved to these committees were registered. They
were from civil society organizations, media, Mukhtars and youth volunteers.
- Four
workshops were organized for two days. 74 volunteers were trained on “The
Mechanisms of Communications among the Popular Committees” as well as
training the participants on “Types of Communication” that should be achieved
between the community, the community police and the security forces. During
the workshop, popular committees were established as well as communication
mechanisms were determined and all the participants agreed to implement
voluntary programs.
- The
popular committees that were established from the community, community police
and security forces organized 10 lectures in Tikrit, Samarra, and Al-Alam.
473 students from secondary schools participated in these lectures to
contribute to spreading the concept of popular committees and how is the
process of affiliation to these committees, which will be a link between the
society and security institutions.
